Felony Arrest or Charge in Houston Texas

A felony in Texas is classified as a serious criminal offense, such as burglary or theft of an item or money value over $1500, sexual assault or murder. Usually felonies are identified by degree of seriousness (first, second and third). Texas law specifies these three degrees. Also, there is a capital felony, reserved for premeditated murder only which is the most serious type of felony punishable by execution. The least serious felony is known as a state jail felony which is subject to six months to two years in state jail.

If you have been involved in a felony and charged with a crime such as aggravated robbery, murder, or rape, you can face serious loss of liberty. For example, a third degree felony carries a sentence of two years to ten years in prison. A second degree felony carries a possible sentence of two years to twenty years in prison. A first degree felony carries a possible sentence of five years to life in prison and the most serious of offenses, capital murder carries a sentence of life in prison or death.
